It takes a lot to properly treat alcoholism. There are almost as many variations in treatment methods as there are treatment facilities. It would be nice to say most of them work. But that is not to be. In the meanwhile, until there is a single method proven to be better than the rest it's a good idea to stick with Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). It's no longer glamorous. It just works.
An important issue for any form of treatment is quality sleep. It helps a lot from either drug or alcohol treatment if the patient has lots of proper sleep. It's not as easily done as said. But the ideal is important.
